Historique :	En allant à Terreneuve, ce bâtiment battu par la tempête reçut à 8h du matin un coupe de vent si violent qu'il fut chaviré au point que la carlingue fut éventrée, les verges enfoncées plus de 5 pieds dans l'eau et tout ce qui se trouva sur le pont emporté avec 8 hommes de l'équipage. Dans cet état de détresse où tout secours humain était impuissant, on eut recours au ciel, on invoqua Marie et tout l'équipage fit un voeu à la Mère de Dieu qui exauça sur le champ leur prière. La sainte Vierge toute brillante de lumière redressa tout à coup le navire et daigna apparaître visiblement à un jeune enfant de l'équipage qui en la voyant, s'écria qu'il voyait une belle dame redresser le bâtiment avec son bras. Un marin faisant partie de l'équipage a fait peindre cet ex-voto pour l'accomplissement de son voeu.
